Ricky Ponting to retire from test cricket

With Ricky Ponting decided to retire after the Perth test, here a look at some good, bad and ugly side of his illustrious career

The good…
Ricky Ponting is one of the all time great batsman and a great fighter of international cricket with more than 26000 runs and 71 centuries and is a master of pull shot and cover drive. Who can forget his knock in 2003 World Cup which blew India’s  chances of winning the worldcup. Also he has scored 3 double centuries against India in short What VVS Laxman has been to Australia, Ponting has been to India. Also he is one of the greatest captain of all time. He has won 48 Tests while leading his side with only South African Graeme Smith closing in. As an ODI captain, he is simply in a league of his own. He has won 165 out of 230 matches with an amazing success rate of 76%. To put this in perspective, compatriot Allan Border is the only captain with more than 100 ODI wins (107). This is one record that may last for a long long time. He also captained his team to two ODI World Cup wins.

The bad…
Ashes is one of the most fiercely fought series between Australia and England. A loss here means a big loss of face in the particular country. He has lost not one but three Ashes series under his captaincy of which 3-1 defeat on home soil was the most humiliating considering that Australia had won 8 straight Ashes series before Ponting took over. While Ponting stormed the cricketing world with both his batting and captaincy, he faded away in both towards the end. He failed to have a Test series average greater than 35 for four series before the India tour in Australia early this year revived his career. But he flopped again with West Indies and South Africa forcing him to finally call it a day. He faded away in the ODI scene too and the twilight of his captaincy was a sad affair where he was totally clueless. As captain he went out in the quarters of the ODI World Cup and also failed to make an impact in the international T20 scene.

The ugly…
While Waugh started the process of mental disintegration and sledging, Ponting as captain took it to abysmal levels. Ponting led a brash and rude team that failed to adhere to the spirit of the game for most of the time. He has claimed a catch even though the ball had clearly touched the ground. He has raised his finger and told the batsman to get off the field even as umpires were in consultation over a doubtful decision. He has vociferously argued with umpires. Ponting has used a graphite bat, which was later declared illegal by the ICC. He once hurled abuses at the England dressing room while getting off the field and even told Sharad Pawar to clear the podium when Australia won the ICC Champions Trophy. And who can forget Monkeygate, one of the ugliest incidents of cricket? Relations between India and Australia had never been so low and Ponting was at the centre of it all.

Upcomming Tech- 8 Core CPU's

In 2013 we will witness 8 core CPUs from Intel and AMD in PCs.
In todays world quad core CPUs are Most Commmon ,we can even see 4 Core CPUs in some latest trending Tablets and Mobile Phones.
With the gigahertz race largely abandoned, both AMD and Intel are trying to pack more cores onto a die in order to continue to improve processing power and aid with multitasking operations. Miniaturizing chips further will be key to fitting these cores and other components into a limited space. Intel will roll out 32-nanometer processors (down from today's 45nm chips) in 2009.
A six Core CPU based On itanium Style Will be out In Some Days by Intel. After That Intel Recently Intel Dropped a 32 Core Project named Keifer. The Project keifer Was Cancelled as It was Observed to be too Complex.

Sachin's Retirement Whose Call - Selectors or Himself

Cricket News: Sachin Tendulkar
Following his recent spate of bad form, Sachin Tendulkar met with chief selector Sandeep Patil on Tuesday and indicated that he may finally be prepared to retire. HAVE YOUR SAY!
There has been continuous speculation about Tendulkar’s final exit from the game, considering a string of below-par performances. The recent drubbing India received at the hands of England in the second Test in Mumbai, and Sachin’s inability to make any impression, yet again, is seen as the trigger.
Tendulkar had a one-on-one discussion with Patil and asked him to take a call on his future.
The Little Master is just eight short of becoming the first-ever player to play 200 Tests. He has failed to score a century since the Cape Town match against South Africa in January, 2011.

Adele's '21' Hits 10 Million in U.S. Sales

Adele's mega-selling "21" album continues to rewrite the record books.

This week, the XL/Columbia release pushes past the 10 million U.S. sales mark in only its 92nd week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In doing so, "21" becomes the 21st album to shift 10 million since the firm began tracking data in 1991.

Rihanna
10,020,000 albums sold

92 weeks of release

The last album to sell as many copies in a shorter span of time was 'N Sync's "No Strings Attached," which raced to 10 million in its 43rd week (January 2001). Only one album in the SoundScan era hit 10 million faster: Backstreet Boys' "Millennium," in its 39th week in February 2000.

"21" is one of only eight albums to hit the 10 million mark within two years of release (104 weeks). In addition to "21," "No Strings Attached" and "Millennium," Santana's "Supernatural" (60 weeks to 10 million), Alanis Morissette's "Jagged Little Pill" (66), "The Bodyguard" soundtrack (72), Creed's "Human Clay" (93) and Shania Twain's "Come On Over" (96) all raced to the figure in under two years.

"21" shifted another 28,000 in the past week, bringing its to-date sum to 10,020,000. "21" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spent 24 non-consecutive weeks atop the tally -- the most in the SoundScan era. It hasn't left the chart since, earning 80 weeks in the top 10. This week, the set moves 31-35.

"21" is the third album to cross the 10 million mark this year, following Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory" and Usher's "Confessions." However, those sets took much longer to reach 10 million. Linkin Park's set was released in 2000 while Usher's effort bowed in 2004. (Next in line to hit 10 million is likely Pearl Jam's "Ten," which has sold 9.98 million so far.)

Since 1991, the highest selling album -- according to SoundScan -- is Metallica's self-titled 1991 release, which has moved 15.8 million. Shania Twain's "Come On Over" is in second place with 15.5 million and Alanis Morissette's "Jagged Little Pill" is in third with 14.8 million. In fourth place is "Millennium" (12.2 million), followed by Beatles' "1" (12.1 million), "The Bodyguard" (12 million), "Supernatural" (11.7 million), "Human Clay" (11.6 million) and Bob Marley and the Wailers' "Legend" (11.2 million) at Nos. 5-9. Rounding out SoundScan's top 10 selling albums since 1991 is "No Strings Attached," with 11.1 million.

Adele's "21" spun off four official singles -- all of which reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. The first three, in fact, all hit No. 1: "Rolling in the Deep," "Someone Like You" and "Set Fire to the Rain." The fourth and final single, "Rumour Has It," climbed to No. 16. (An unofficial single, "Turning Tables," reached No. 63 in May of 2011.)

Adele is currently riding the Hot 100 with "Skyfall," the title song from the James Bond film of the same name. ("Skyfall" is not on the "21" album.) The single debuted at No. 8 in October.

Nicki Minaj Takes Aim at Steven Tyler's 'Idol' 'Racist Comment'

Nicki Minaj's "American Idol" feuds are expanding.

The newly-minted "Idol" judge, whose reported clashes with fellow judge Mariah Carey have already made headlines, is firing back at former "Idol" judge Steven Tyler after he made comments that the Young Money rapper/singer is deeming "racist."

In an interview with MTV News, Tyler suggested that Minaj and Carey "Shut the f--- up," and continued, "They should have something going on so thick and beautiful that they can lay it over the new talent that's trying to birth itself. It needs to be birthed, not judged by 'entertainment' factors. It needs to be judged by people that [are] honest, true, that have the 'it' factor. Not the 'it' factor because they can fight. The f--- is that all about?"

Tyler went on to speculate that if Bob Dylan auditioned for the judges today, Minaj would "have had him sent to the cornfield!"

Minaj promptly took to her Twitter account to respond to the Aerosmith frontman.

"Steven Tyler said I would have sent Bob Dylan to a cornfield??? Steven, you haven't seen me judge one single solitary contestant yet," she wrote. "I understand you really wanted to keep your job but take that up with the producers. I haven't done anything to you. That's a racist comment. You assume that I wouldn't have liked Bob Dylan??? why? black? rapper? what? go f--k yourself and worry about yourself babe."

Then, referencing Carey's infamous interview with Barbara Walters in which she said Minaj had threatened her safety, Minaj continued: "LOL lets make him a shirt that says 'No Coloreds Allowed' then escort him down 2 Barbara Walters so he can tell how he was threatened w/guns. When Steven 1st went on Idol he was ridiculed by his peers & fans alike. Called a sell out. So what does he do? Ridicule the next judge."

In October, a source told The Hollywood Reporter that Minaj and Carey's rumored feud is "all for show" and that "they know the parts they're supposed to play." But surely Tyler isn't in on Fox's so-called publicity stunt, so what do you think of the Minaj-Tyler smackdown?

Did Tyler take it too far? Or is Minaj taking his comments too personally?

Season 12 of "Idol" debuts on Jan. 16 on Fox.

Samsung's SCH-W2013 is a quad-core, dual-screen flip phone, designed for Jackie Chan

Samsung's SCH-W2013 is a quad-core, dual-screen flip phone, designed for Jackie ChanIt's been almost a year since the ridiculously expensive SCH-W999 launched on China Telecom, so it's about time for Samsung to come up with yet another dual-screen flip phone to lure folks with too much money. Launched in conjunction with a big charity concert (again) earlier today is the SCH-W2013, a 1.4GHz quad-core (likely an Exynos 4412) device with Android 4.0 and dual-3.7-inch 800 x 480 Super AMOLED touchscreens. On top of that there's 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, microSD expansion of up to 64GB, 1,850mAh of battery juice, an eight-megapixel main imager plus a whopping 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera. As with many flagship devices on China Telecom, the W2013 comes with dual-SIM support: one for CDMA2000 800/1900 and the other for GSM 900/1800/1900. The damage? Well, there's nothing official yet, but it's believed to be somewhere between ¥18,000 ($2,900) and ¥20,000 ($3,210). After all, it ain't cheap to hire Jackie Chan (and he was also given a W2013 at the concert).
